Carroll Island Wetland Mitigation

Project Description

FWA relocated wetland areas to compensate for existing wetland areas being disturbed as part of the U.S. Army’s JLENS surveillance project within the Edgewood section of APG.

Two distinct areas will be excavated into shallow depressions that will bring the land surface down to the average water table level of the area.

These depressions will be graded into various elevations to replicate three different wetland zones:  emergent, shrub/scrub and forested. The plantings will be maintained in perpetuity and are expected to propagate and thrive on their own.
