Frederick Ward Associates provides structural
research, including exploration and reports, geotechnical field
inspections and testing on conditions pertaining to soils, concrete
and foundations. The firm has the technical expertise to design
structures in a variety of materials for many different uses,
and during construction FWA works with developers and contractors
to resolve subsurface conditions, provide remedial assistance
and certify results.
Retaining Walls
FWA has designed a wide range
of wood frame, steel and concrete structures for retaining walls,
foundations, bulkheads, noise barriers, ramps and platforms.
The firm also is experienced in the evaluation of existing structures
for adaptive re-use, renovation and certification.
Bridges
Frederick Ward Associates has designed an impressive
number of bridges of various structure types and materials,
including vehicle bridges and pedestrian bridges. The firm’s
experience extends to culverts and other bridge-related structures
required for flood control and relief, closed storm drainage,
open channels, channel relocation, stream restoration and stream
crossing alternatives. FWA also provides inspections of existing
bridges and follow-up recommendations for rehabilitation and
repair.
